Traditionally, dredging has been Boskalis’ core activity, Their services include the construction and maintenance of ports and waterways, land reclamation, costal defence and riverbank protection. Today they also offer a wide variety of maritime services and contracting to the offshore energy sector.
As part of their strategy, they aim to manage their business and projects in a profitable and responsible manner. They are committed to promoting sustainability including environmental and social principles as an integral part of business. Boskalis is also working towards contributing the 5 Sustainable Development Goals det by the UN. These goals include, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, industry, innovation and infrastructure, climate action and life below water. They work on projects creating 3D printed reefs, exploring on solutions to reduce the emissions of their vessels through the use of hydrogen, methanol, ethanol and ammonia as alternative fuels, and exploring the potential of blue carbon.
Within the period of 2022-2024, Boskalis’ business plan is based on three strategic pillars – Good Stewardship, Human Excellence and Distinguishing Assets. In order to work on the pillar of Human Excellence, Boskalis continues to intensify the development and implementation of initiative and tools to source the right talent form the international labour market. They also continuously refresh and optimize their HR processes around performance management, leadership and talent development, knowledge sharing and employee engagement. IN order to strive for sustainable employability, they help enhance their staff skills by undertaking a range of initiative ranging from enhancing crew training, to running programs such as the Boskalis Leadership Development Program, the Financial Professional Program and Innovation Wave Jump Program.
