EXAMPLE DESCRIPTION:
In recent decades, numerous plans and visions have been developed for Northeast Friesland by various government to lift the region out of impoverishment. With the exception of a few, all these plans have ended up in a drawer and the impoverishment and decline are gradually continuing. This causes employment to move to the cities and with that, workers following them.
To put an end to this negative development, residents of Holwerd, consisting of members of the village, and (agricultural) village entrepreneurs has set up a foundation with the aim to force a breakthrough in the sea dyke in order to restore connection between the Wadden Sea and Friesland.
The project is divided into 9 pillars which includes nature, water and water safety, waddenpoort, recreation and tourism, quality of life, art, culture and landscape, innovations and sustainability, agriculture, and living lab Holwerda an Zee.
