ChangeMakers Donegal

Funded by Irish Aid, ChangeMakers Donegal has been making an impact with the community and local groups since it was formed more than ten years ago in July 2012. ChangeMakers is all about global action at a local level. They have worked to raise awareness of local and global citizenship issues with adults across Donegal through a range of activities, including workshops, accredited learning, ETB tutor education, community arts projects, horticulture and environmental projects.

ChangeMakers is developing a resource targeting adults, communities, and businesses on Donegal to take actions in support of Sustainability. The resource will provide key facts and figures, suggested actions (differentiated by individual/household, community/town, and business) and their measurable impacts, and a directory of national and Donegal based groups and organisations across five topics:

  • Water and energy
  • Recycling and upcycling
  • Ethical and Responsible consumption
  • Gardening and biodiversity
  • Equality and inclusion in our communities

The team at Change Makers also continue to collaborate and work with the local communities to help them become Fairtrade Towns. To date, Carndonagh and Moville have both achieved Fairtrade Town status and Buncrana and Dunfanaghy are making good progress towards this goal.

Changemakers offer a broad range of workshops both online and face to face (subject to Covid 19 restrictions). Changemakers also offer tailored workshops to meet the learners needs and interest as long there is alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

One of the programmes delivering in 2023 is QQI Level 5 in Intercultural Studies offering an individual and cross sectoral insight into the changing landscape we now live and work in. This programme is a steppingstone for individual and organisations to take their learning and apply it to their lives and workplaces, truly upskilling with a continuous impact on the learner and those they interact with.

Supports for SMEs in the Blue Economy:
